What a crazy fast weekend we just had! On Saturday afternoon, we jumped in the car and headed north to Indianapolis for the playoff game against the Ravens. Once we got to the hotel, we had just enough time to check-in and freshen up before we had to be back down in the lobby to meet Justin's customers. When everybody got there, we headed outside to wait on the shuttle to take us downtown to the Marriott to meet up with Justin's boss. As we were standing there talking, we looked up to see Jeff Saturday and Reggie Wayne walk out of the hotel. At one point, Jeff Saturday was standing shoulder to shoulder with Justin! I mean, we live in a city filled with celebrities, so we shouldn't really be starstruck. However, we were in awe! It was just plain crazy to think that we were staying at the hotel on the campus of IUPUI, and the Colts stay here! Saturday and Wayne jumped into a Mustang and took off. Let me tell you though, Jeff Saturday is not as big as you think he is. As we continued waiting on the shuttle, out walked Matt Stover, Melvin Bullitt, Curtis Painter, Pat McAfee and Kyle DeVan. I tried to get Justin to get his picture taken with Curtis Painter, but he wouldn't. (Some Purdue fan he is!)
We finally made it downtown to a bar at the Marriott and had a few drinks before we headed to the stadium. This was my first trip to Lucas Oil, and let me tell you that if you haven't been there, this place is massive! We made our way up to the Dow Agro suite and settled in for the game. What a view! I have truly been spoiled this year watching football games....suite at Purdue, suite at LP Field for the Colts/Titans game, and now suite at Lucas Oil. A girl could get used to this!
Clearly, you all know what the outcome of the game was! We had a great time to say the least!
Sunday morning we woke up and jumped in the car to headed back to Nashville as we had company coming into town. My friend Nathan and his fiance' were coming to Nashville for a hockey game. Nathan has been my friend since Kindergarten. We ran track together in middle and high school. Even through college we kept in touch and tried to have lunch together once a year. He's a huge Toronto Maple Leafs fan and they just happened to be in town playing our Preds. This was only his 2nd NHL game ever! It's crazy to me, since this was my 5th game just this season. We had a great time, although my Preds lost. :-( They were down 3 goals in the first period, but came back to at least make it a good game.
It was definitely a whirlwind weekend (considering it was even an extended weekend with MLK Jr. Day)! I loved getting to see the Colts in action on their own turf and catching up with an old friend. Life is good!
As for this weekend, I'm busy trying to get ahead on homework. I just started grad school two weeks ago, and let me tell you....I'm just barely keeping my head above water! This 4-credit 8-week course is INTENSE! In regards to the Colts game, unfortunately no suite this weekend. Just sweatpants, my jersey, a blanket and the loveseat. Go COLTS!!!
