It's officially been a year since we moved to Tennessee. Since it's Christmas time, it seems to be appropriate to have lists. Plus, if you know me well, you know I'm a big list person anyways. So, here you go...a list of things I've learned since I've been in Tennessee:
- For being in the top 5 of friendliest US cities, there sure is A LOT of road rage!
- People in the South will either tell you everything about their lives or nothing at all.
- It doesn't matter what you do while you are driving, you will inevitably get honked at.
- No one uses a turn signal. In fact, Justin and I firmly believe that using your turn signal is the automatic sign for the people around you to speed up and not allow you into their lane.
- You can't buy beer, wine & liquor all in the same place. Beer can be found at the grocery store (and it's always cold) and wine & liquor can only be purchased at the liquor store. Also, you can buy beer on Sunday after 12:00 noon. And we have Yuengling!
- It is incredibly cheap to buy plates for your car, but you can't do your license, tags, etc all in the same place.
- Not everyone in Tennessee says "ya'll"
- Tennessee is not as redneck as you think.
- You can usually tell how long someone has been in the South by their accent. After awhile though, you don't even notice anymore.
- Battling rush hour is truly about finding that small window of opportunity.
- Tennesseans can't drive on anything other than dry pavement.
- Several women are still sporting the Femullet
- .2" of snow = impressive accumulations and will instantly cause the grocery stores to run out of bread, milk, & eggs (aka The French Toast Kit)
