ICE features phenomenally crafted ice sculptures that come together to create an authentic winter wonderland that will take you on a journey through the beloved children's tale, How the Grinch Stole Christmas. With creations handcrafted by more than 40 artisans from China, ICE takes you on a chilly adventure through sites including Who-ville and the Grinch's mountaintop lair, complete with slides and other surprises! The artisans work shifts of 12 hours at a time, for a whole month to turn the theatre at Opryland into the Grinch's icy lair.
Guests will step into a world of interactive displays and elaborate three-dimensional, larger-than-life sized holiday sculptures and colorful ice carvings — many of which are more than 25 feet in length. The entire setting is created from more than 1.5 million pounds of ice, kept at a constant 16° F, and blends amazing frozen creations with dramatic lighting and special effects.
After paying a ridiculous amount of money ($20/ticket), we donned the blue parkas and entered into this freezing exhibit. I felt like we were back in Indiana. All in all, it was impressive to see. Here are some photos:
The last room that you walked into contained the Nativity Scene carved in ice...very impressive.
On the way out, we turned in our blue parkas and of course were forced to walk through the gift shop area to get out. Justin wanted to get a cup of hot chocolate to warm up. I told him no because they were charging $3.50 for a small cup and he was from up north...just suck it up. I know...what's $3.50 after we just paid $40!
