Well...not in Lynchburg, TN at least!

Mom and Dad came down for the Labor Day weekend, and we traveled down to Lynchburg, TN to visit the Jack Daniels Distillery. The distillery is located in Moore County which is dry to this day. Ironic, don't you think? However, I think our tour guide might have been sipping on some Old No. 7 before we got there...he seemed to be a little out of it! Justin and I have done the tour before, but each time we go, we have a different tour guide so we learn something different. However, we did have lunch/dinner at Miss Mary Bobo's Boarding House, which we had never done before. The food was excellent! It was good ole Southern cooked food which consisted of Fried Chicken, pork roast, Macaroni & Cheese, Collard Greens, Green Beans, Fried Okra, Cornbread muffins, and baked apples (which were made with some of the local product!) They also served a red pepper relish with their green beans that was amazing! All of this was followed by peach cobbler with a little whiskey whipped cream on top! They have to use something when they run out of vanilla! ;-)

After our meal, we walked around the town square and visited a couple of their stores. We stopped in at a store called Nina's to sample some whiskey fudge and also found that they had some of the best chocolate covered cherries that I have ever had! And yes, they had some that were made with the local product! Sound delicious? Give them a call...they are more than happy to ship!!
The rest of the weekend consisted of some shopping and then on Monday, we went downtown Nashville to take a walk across the pedestrian bridge.
Thanks Mom & Dad for coming down to visit! We had a great time!
And Dad - thanks for making all of those great home made meals! It always tastes better when someone else cooks it!
