A Little House on the Edge of Town

The votes are in, and it was close!  5 votes for the house in Carmel, and 6 votes for the house in Zionsville.  Have I kept you in suspense long enough?  Are you ready to know which house we chose?  At this point in time, we have put money down on the house and locked in an interest rate on a new mortgage.  We even have a walk-through scheduled.  Our house in Nashville is still not on the market yet, but hopefully will be Friday.

As for where we are in the process, we had two different realtors come to our house last week to look it over, take pictures, and suggest what they would put the house on the market for.  Our relocation specialist got back in touch with us, and we chose our realtor.  Then we had to have a termite inspection (which we passed!...Thank you Sentricon system from Dow!), and then a home inspection.  We have a few minor things we need to fix (like one of the bedroom doors doesn't latch right), but I was thankful we do not have to do anything about the roof.  The roof of our house is the original roof and that had me concerned, but we passed!  We are still waiting on the appraisers to come out, but that is for company purposes.  I spoke to my realtor on the phone tonight, and she wants to get it listed on Friday with Saturday being the first day for a showing.  The downfall to this whole situation is that we are having to list our house for quite a bit less than what we bought it for in 2008 due to the current market/economy. 

Enough about all of that though, since it isn't very exciting.  As for the new house...if you picked the house in Zionsville, then you guessed correctly!  While the house in Carmel was very nice, the downfall was a small master bedroom (smaller than what we have now) and very little storage space in the garage.  Yes, it had a finished basement, but it wasn't the best finishing job I've ever seen.  The Carmel house was originally a short-sale that someone bought and flipped.  The house in Zionsville, was originally a spec house that was built earlier this year that the builder was trying to get rid of.  We really liked being able to invest in a new home and have a lot more space than what we have now for the same price.  (The closet space in this house is AMAZING!)  In Nashville, we were the home that everyone came to for a cheap weekend get-away.  Now, I have a feeling we'll be the home to crash at before an early morning flight at the airport or a late night after a Colts game! ;-)  Either way, I hope that you'll come and visit.  With that said, here are some pics of the house.  Enjoy!
